For the last two months, high-blood pressure and stress have been manifesting itself physically. The rigors of teaching and coaching are akin to a beach; some waves are small, and some are abnormally large. The constant is that waves represent an onslaught of scope in responsibilities within your profession. When a person adds their personal life into the equation, your life can become overambitious and it is easy to overlook your body needing love. Loving yourself represent a balance of exercise, solid nutrients, and sleep. Educators, it is time to take ownership and love yourself unconditionally so that we may be the exemplars our students need.
The Challenge
In a previous interview with Coach Albert Torres of Harlandale High School, Torres discusses the dangers lurking in personal health betraying you when you betray the balance needed to endure the rigor of serving your community. Torres also mentioned that one of the things he did to take ownership of exercising, was to perform extensive rehabilitation utilizing cycling. In the spirit of Coach Torres, there is a challenge for every coach in San Antonio within reach of this article; on Wednesday, June 9th at 7 pm, there is a standing offer of riding with me to be your support. The offer stands for Monday and Wednesday at 7pm with Fridays occurring at 8am. No experience is necessary, just a bike and your grit.

San Antonio Mission Trails
The San Antonio River Authority is the agency charged with maintaining the Mission Trails along the San Antonio River extended to the Texas coast; the River Authority ensures that the ecosystem flourishing along the river is preserved and maintained. The start of the ride will begin at the Bluestar Arts Complex and continue to Mission Espada. This is an 18.6-mile roundtrip ride that according to Google Maps, lasts 1 hour and 36 minutes.
